Back to Normal(?)

Day 3 of Peace!!!

It appears the storm has passed. The Australian soldiers are back from the west – but there is no word as to where Maj. Alfredo is, and everyone is happy. It is strange, all of a sudden peace. As the outsiders we have no idea how the Timorese know that today all is going to be quiet, but are happy it happened. The Australian soldiers are passing out soccer balls to make nice, nice since Alfredo and his gang made them out as the bad guys and the UN is buzzing around town. I took this photo not to show the calm, but because this guy cut me off!!! UN drivers are terrible - this crew made a right turn from the left lane. I guess they didn't see me because my big white Prajero with USAID on the side really blends in to the urban environment.

For me it is off to Cambodia for a week to attend a conference. Kate will be here holding down the fort with her project. She is happy to have Emre come back out to Timor to lend a helping hand. And I am sure he will be happy to get a few more dives in!
