A blast at the beach

We are now back in Kampala after a nice long vacation at the beach in Rehoboth and visiting family and friends in Baltimore and beautiful New Hampshire. Naomi had a lot of firsts on this trip: first ice cream cone, first big swim in the waves of the ocean, first funnel cake (fried carbs? she loved it), first haircut, first blueberry picking, first time building forts and sandcastles, first time running through the sprinkler, first bike ride and so many others. One of the beautiful thinks about our vacation was how much we were able to reconnect to the sights and sounds that were so important to both Lendell and I growing up. The smell of the salt water, the taste of the unparalleled but quite tart New England blueberry, the chill of the first jump in the lake, the exhilaration of jumping your first big wave, the chaos of Funland and boardwalk rides, the deliciously creamy and cold ice cream cone. So many of them are quintessential parts of how and where we grew up as kids, and we love seeing Naomi experience them for the first time. It is always bittersweet to spend time with friends and family in the US - we love our life in Kampala but also love connecting and reconnecting to so many loved ones and new experiences. Am I a nostalgic? Guilty. Wouldn't have it any other way. We are also truly blessed and thankful to have so many great people in our lives. (ps. most of the really gorgeous pics are courtesy of photo genius Janine)
