Timor Elections!

Yesterday Timor held its presidential election. Despite a few scuffles during the short campaign week last week, the day was orderly and peaceful. Folks started lining up early in the morning for the 7 AM open. You will note that even in Timor Elvis is still King!

It was an exciting day for young and old everyone looked proud to show that they voted:

The key for any election is transparency and they were fully practicing this here. After the polls closed the staff would open the ballots in public, show the ballot, and tick it on the board. The crowd would cheer for their candidate when a vote was shown. Given all of Timor's conflict - a very promising process.

And the vote goes to.......

Everyone made sure the vote was counted...
